PokerStrategy Parent etruvian Has Major Management Shakeup

Posted by admin | Casino Affiliates | Wednesday 31 July 2013 9:52 pm

etruvian co-founder, Dominik Kofert

Just two and half weeks after selling off PokerStrategy.com to Playtech, etruvian Holdings is handing out pink slips to most of its executive staff. The layoffs are, according to EGR Magazine, the work of etruvian co-founder, Enrique Guzman.

Guzman recently bought out etruvian co-founder (and PokerStrategy.com founder) Dominik Kofert’s share of the business. Kofert left his position at PokerStrategy.com to help run etruvian but had a different vision for the company than Guzman.

Once he’d assumed control of the company, Guzman took an axe to personnel costs, especially in the executive suites. EGR is reporting that some employees were given the choice of a layoff, or a hefty cut in pay.

The newly released employees include:

  • Lutz Enke, Chief Strategy Officer
  • Damon Barnard, General Counsel
  • Nicola Valarino, HR Business Partner
  • Joannah Barnard, Chief Financial Officer
  • Matthew Primeaux, Chief Revenue Officer

In an interview with EGR, Kofert praised Guzman saying:

Enrique has big plans for etruvian, which I clearly believe has big opportunities otherwise I would not have co-founded it. I believe it is a very strong business with a bright future ahead.

There’s no word yet on any replacements for the departing etruvian executives.

iGaming News Weekly July 21-27

Posted by admin | Casino Affiliates | Friday 26 July 2013 9:33 pm

Internet gambling operators rolled out plenty of new products; New Jersey gave some hints at what they’ve got in store for affiliates; and IGT proved that purchasing DoubleDown was a pretty smart idea.

It was another busy week for the igaming industry and we’ve all the big headlines right here.

Legal

NJ Gaming Enforcement Director Speaks – Regulated online casino gambling is launching in New Jersey this fall but there really hasn’t been much talk of how affiliates fit into the picture until this week. Gaming Enforcement Director David Rebuck sat down for a interview with Global Gaming Business and spelled out his vision of where affiliates fit in this new market. He suggested that regulation and licensing levels will be based on a revenue threshold.

Online Casino News

Double Down Pays Off – International Gaming Technology (IGT) set off a round of head scratching when they purchased the, relatively untested, DoubleDown social casino for somewhere in the neighborhood of $ 500 million. That purchase is starting to pay off as last quarter’s social revenue for the company was up 105% over the previous year. IGT is now free to say, “I told you so.”

Paf Partners’ DeepLinks – Paf Partners new DeepLinks feature offers players one-click access to online poker action from e-mails and a home page. That could be a major asset when it comes to converting new players who might be reluctant to download poker a poker client to their desktops.

PlayTech Game-Specific Bonuses – Promoting popular Playtech games to targeted players will be a lot easier now that the company has rolled out its new Game-Specific Bonus feature. As the name implies, this new feature grants a new level of flexibility in gaming promotion.

Affiliate News

PKR Changes T&CPKR Limited rolled out a series of retroactive T&C changes that come down hard on inactive accounts and, seemingly, prohibits many types of traditional web marketing techniques. Existing affiliates can be de-activated and/or have their revenue share slashed based on a sliding scale of inactivity. The new T&C also, bizarrely, keeps affiliates from promoting the site on search engines. (Uh, good luck with that, guys.)

IGT Doubles Down on Excellent News

Posted by admin | Casino Affiliates | Wednesday 24 July 2013 9:39 pm

International Gaming Technology (IGT) is doubling down on big announcements today.

In separate press releases the company announced massive revenue gains spurred by the success of the Double Down Casino; and the formation of the world’s first cross-platform poker tournament.

DoubleDown Casino Drives Revenue Gains

DoubleDown Casino is currently Facebook’s highest earning social casino game and was a major force behind IGT’s 9% revenue gain over last year’s earnings.

Over the course of the last fiscal quarter, DoubleDown spearheaded a whopping 105% increase in social revenue for the company. Last year at this time the company had only pulled in around $ 30 million from social games. For 2013, that number is more like $ 61.4 million.

Along with increased revenues, DoubleDown is also seeing a steadily growing number of visitors. As of this writing they’re clocking in around 1.69 million daily active users who generate an average of $ .40 revenue per user/per day.

All that activity is enough to push Zynga Poker out of the top earning spot for Facebook-based social casinos.

In an interview with EGR Magazine, IGT CEO Patti Hart spelled out the scale of DoubleDown’s growth:

We are generating monetisation rates at DoubleDown that, frankly, are the envy of the industry, nearly double that of our nearest competitor.

IGT’s other interactive revenues were up 26% over the previous year.

Cross-Platform Poker Tournament

The other big story out of IGT this week was the announcement of the Game King Championship Tournament, the first-ever cross-platform poker tournament. Players can enter the tournament for free and participate from a PC, mobile device and, if they’re winning, in person at the Casino del Sol in Tuscon, Arizona.

Bringing the excitement of tournament-play poker via a social gaming app is a pretty forward thinking strategy and is definitely on the cutting edge of casino marketing. As IGT Interactive Group Executive Vice President, Robert Melendes said:

he Game King Video Poker Championship done in partnership with Casino Del Sol is a perfect example of how the convergence of mobile and social gaming impacts the casino gaming industry.

More than 110,000 players have already participated and qualifiers are ongoing until July, 29.

Playtech Launching Recreation-Distinct Bonuses

Posted by admin | Casino Affiliates | Tuesday 23 July 2013 9:32 pm

Operators who are running on the Playtech platform are about to get a huge range of new bonus options for their players as the company launches a new feature called, Game-Specific Bonuses. It’s a big move that should help real-money gaming companies convert social players and other newbies.

Game-Specific Bonuses offers exactly what the name says and provides operators new degree of flexibility to promote their most popular games.

In a press release, Playtech’s VP of Operations, Shimon Akad described some of the advantages of the new feature:

We are thrilled to introduce these industry-leading features to market. They provide a level of flexibility that will help our valued operators to improve their marketing efforts tremendously and therefore increase their success and revenue.

We believe these features represent the future of how operators target customers and have already received very positive feedback from some of our larger licensees.

With new online gambling markets opening across the globe, and increasing numbers of social gamers discovering casino gaming, a heaping dose of flexibility could be just what the doctor ordered.

So far there’s no word on launch date for Game-Specific Bonuses.

Paf Partners Roll Out New Deeplinks Feature

Posted by admin | Casino Affiliates | Tuesday 23 July 2013 8:58 pm

One of the best ways to get players to play is by making it as easy as possible for them to actually get to the table and that accessibility is a key element of Paf Partners’ new Deeplinks feature.

Deeplinks gives players one-click access to live games directly from an operator home page or even an e-mail. For operators and affiliates, Deeplinks opens a world of new promotional opportunities, as a company spokesman described in an interview with EGR Magazine:

One example would be for example a tournament only for female players or for Swedish players – on the news page (or even in an email) with the information about the tournament we can have a ‘press here to register for the tournament’ link.

Besides the promotional advantages, Deeplinks also removes a few layers of technical complexity that can be off-putting to new players. Deeplinks allows players to get directly into games, with a fixed amount of chips, all from a single mouse click.

In today’s incredibly competitive online poker market, this could give Paf a much-needed edge in converting new players and maximizing their current player base.

Deeplinks is currently available on the Micrograming Poker Network.

What do you think about Paf’s new Deeplinks feature? Share your opinions in the comments section below.
